Rodolfo Resendiz: Good times, Hard times and the Domino effect.

A couple of months ago I called Rodolfo, he is an owner-operator in the area of Coachella, California and has been a driver for almost 5 years now. At that time he mentioned that he was still looking for something, but he was not sure yet, so I decided to put him as a long terms callback, I did this because I’m not in the push boat, I like when our customers develop their idea, and they are sure that they want to grow, that is when I like to work with them, patience is a virtue.

A month after that my phone rang; It was Rodolfo, he was ready to move on.

We started talking on what he wanted to do and how he wanted to do it, he mentioned that nobody approved him because he had a car repo a couple of years ago and that was something that was hurting him, he is already in a payment plan for that repo but is still hurting his credit.

This was a hard case, getting an approval on this scenario is not easy, but I told him that there is no impossible but that it was going to take a couple of days; he said is ok, better late than never.

“A good thing of working with you guys is that you made something that my bank said it was impossible to do, into something possible”

I grabbed all the info and took it to one of the underwriters, he actually specializes in the trucking industry, and he told me the same. I called Rodolfo 10 minutes after that, he started talking about his last job, he used to work in a golf field as the maintenance manager, he was there for the last 3 years before jumping into trucking, so I asked him, why did you take that leap into trucking? I got curious because it is a pretty huge, and not so simple, jump getting into this industry.

Now, this might sound like a movie but it’s not the first time that I’ve heard something like this, this is not fiction. Rodolfo told me that almost 8 years ago he got deported to Mexico, even though he is a citizen, he was out of the US for almost a year. Rodolfo mentioned that he doesn’t have any family over there and it was hard because he was alone struggling. When he came back into the US he took that job as the maintenance guy and climbed to be a manager but after some years he decided to travel through the US and being a trucker made sense.

Days passed, and I was thinking about his story, I couldn’t imagine being taken out of my home and apart from my family and being placed into another country in which I didn’t know anyone, for me that was a hard thought.

Ari called me that same day, we had the approval ready, so I called Rodolfo, he was on the road at that time, but he was glad about it, he asked me to send the paperwork, and we did, a couple of days after that Rodolfo picked up his trailers, and he gave us a call, he was happy, he was going to grow his business and get some more work, he said: -You don’t know when things are gonna crumble down so it’s better to be prepared, good thing of working with you guys is that you made something that other financing companies said it was impossible to do, into something possible-.

That is something that I take pride on my job, I can relate with them and know what they need and make it happen, and after we make it happen for them, they can make it happen for their families; This is the best example of the Domino effect.
