New and renewing CDL Truck drivers in the state of Colorado will be required to received training on recognizing and reporting human trafficking.
New legislation in Colorado signed into law last week by Gov. John Hickenlooper will require new commercial driver’s license applicants to complete a 30-minute training session by Truckers Against Trafficking at no extra cost in order to obtain their license. CDL schools in the state will be required to include the training as part of the overall CDL course.
Truckers Against Trafficking online course includes a 26-minute video and a 15-question quiz to become certified.
Other states, including Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois, Ohio and Washington, have instituted similar requirements as part of CDL training. The law will go into effect on Aug. 8.
