Staying healthy on the road

 

When on the road, it is extremely important for drivers to keep a healthy lifestyle, including having nutritious meals, getting plenty of exercises and enough sleep.

Positive health habits will help you feel better and perform better. You want the road of your life to be as long as possible. You wanna be smart when snacking on the go.

When hunger hits while you’re on the road, grab a handful (or two) of almonds, peanuts or mixed nuts.  They’re high in protein, making them a more satisfying snack than chips. They’re easy to pack and access, and they help keep your blood sugar levels in check. Look for nuts that are roasted and unsalted.

Chewing gum can help reduce stress and improve concentration while multitasking. Choose sugarless gum for a calorie-free boost.

Wear sunglasses that block UVA and UVB rays. Look for labels that say “Meets ANSI UV Requirements,” because those sunglasses block 99 percent of UV rays. UV rays have been proven to cause cataracts, skin cancer around the eyes and degeneration of the macula.

Make sure you drink plenty of water. This one is a no-brainer, replenish our body from the inside out, you’ll have a better digestion, more energy, your organs will function better and in the end, you’ll feel better overall.

If you’re tired and feel sleep creeping in, look for a truck stop and take a 15-minute power nap.

Compliment someone for a job well done. Expressing gratitude improves your mental health and reduces stress.
